Preeclampsia Foundation has launched hear our prayers now drive to declare May Preeclampsia Awareness Month this evening at 7 Annual Saving Grace their Night of Hope and Gratitude Gala in New York, New York.

petition aims to ensure that at least 2,500 signatures from 12 to 31 November December 2011, in favor of certain May as “Preeclampsia Awareness Month in the National Health ritual calendar. Thirteen states or jurisdictions around the United States has officially recognized the month, the national mission will enable the Foundation to further expand public awareness of this common and life-threatening disorders of pregnancy, distribute educational information and increase both patient and provider lock preeclampsia and related hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.

Preeclampsia is a disorder that occurs only during pregnancy and the postpartum period and affects both mother and unborn child. Affecting at least 5-8% of all pregnancies, it is rapidly deteriorating condition which takes the lives of 76,000 mothers and 500,000 children annually worldwide. Increased awareness of women, their families and health care services is recognized as an important strategy for improving pregnancy outcomes.

We would like to “hear” the petition to show Congress and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services enormous interest and support to achieve this life-threatening cause of maternal health, said Eleni Tsigas, director of the Preeclampsia Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) organization leading the campaign. With the world population reaches 7 billion and an estimated 10 million women per year affected by preeclampsia, the United States must take a leadership role in improving global maternal health. National recognition of our preeclampsias impact on the lives of millions of mothers and children is an important first step.
